At the University of California, Berkeley, Kiwibots—four- wheeled delivery vehicles about the size of a cooler—deliver food to students around the school and in nearby neighborhoods. One day they may be fully autonomous, finding their own routes. But for now, the Kiwibotsare guided by remote human operators who plot “waypoints” and send the bots instructions at five to ten second intervals.
